Last spring I put those little poison filled D-Con boxes under the seats. Started finding little green mouse droppings in the cars so I knew their days were numbered.
Well, one crawled up somewhere in the white wagon and died. Geez Louise it was almost 3 months before I could drive that car again. Literally!!
A year later I still haven't found the corpse. Have had dash and seats out a couple times......
Catz.....more Catz......I have about 8 catz.....actually it's an unknown number of catz......and I never have mouse, squirrel, mole....or any other small critter problems.....

I know better than to put poison out in vehicles.....saw my grandfather do that, and he had to drive his pickup to work......stank to high heaven.....

Traps are a better way to go if you don't like catz.....

Couple of stories... from the North woods of Wisconsin
> My Dad had a new 1983 CJ7 and was complaining of poor performance. I took the air cleaner apart and found shredded paper towels between the air filter and air cleaner housing. Oh yes, the little pink erasers (baby mice) were all happy until they were evicted. Solution: 1/4" welded wire installed over the air intake to the air cleaner. Still have the Jeep and haven't had any problems since.

> My grandmother had a Jeep Wagoneer. The whole engine harness was eaten by some rodent. She had it hauled to the dealer and traded it in on a new one. (nope the ashtrays weren't full)

> My mother had a station wagon which developed a really bad smell. She took it to the dealer and they told her she was nuts. She took it to an upholstery shop and they took the front bench seat apart and found decaying mice in the fold of fabric that wrapped around the seat back to the seat spring.

when it starts getting cold, I always put a 5 gal pail 2/3rd filled with water and sunflower seeds sprinkled on top, in my garage. It pretty much eliminates all rodents.

I'll chime in with a rodent story

The HR director at my work told me a story of her father-in-law.
He has a Porsche 993 turbo. He purchased it brand new! It had about
6k on the odo, when he fired it up one morning to drive up the
coast. He only got about 10 miles, when another driver signaled him to pull over. When he could he pulled off the road and smoke was billowing out
of the engine compartment. He called the dealer, and they sent out a tow.
When the service department took it apart to see what the problem was,
they found a whole bunch of fiberglass insulation stuffed all around the cooling shroud sheetmetal. It caused about 10grand damage to the motor.
Rats had taken the insulation from his garage walls and made nests with it
inside the shrouding blocking all the cooling in spots. Well the factory thought since it was under warranty, they would comp him for the "abuse",
and replaced the motor!!.

... environmentally safe... no poisons... irresistable to mice & chipmunks... when they stop coming that means everybody's gone... ... helps if you put a ramp or place it next to something to make it easy for them to climb up... guaranteed to work ... wipes them out in a weeks time.....

Stops damage to the cars, chewing thru my waders (they like to nest in the wader boots), leaving droppings, etc, etc

i had to post a reply. my 81 300d i just purchased had nests all over...trunk, under hood pad, behind back seat, etc. i cleaned them all out.... i thought.

my blower motor has always made an aweful noise, i got a spare from a junk yard. i took it down assuming it was toast. i wish i took a picture. there was a nest inside my vents, and the motor was clogged with acorns. there were about 10 acorns inside the blower. i took them out, and now it works fine, no noise at all. Stupid rodents, i wonder where else they go

My baby spends the winter in our detached garage. Every spring I would find signs of mice infestation, nesting material and acorn debris. One day a friend told me about an old farmers trick. When I put her to bed in the late fall (and take the battery inside) I place a dozen moth balls around the engine compartment. Problem solved.
