Should a 300SD have a Dead Pedal cover?

Of some sort? Or is it just the carpet?

Thumbs up

I've only seen them as open plastic.

It seems strange to me that there would not be some sort of rubber piece there, as it is a 'wear' area. You wouldn't want to go through the carpet...

Then I saw an inside pic of a fairly nice '87 SEC up right now on ebay, and it looks like there is indeed some sort of rubber pad, with the indent for the parking brake lever. Note that the cheapo rubber floormat is slightly overlaying on the dead pedal...
