What does your diesel engine sound like?

What does your diesel engine sound like?:)

#1. Make an audio recording.
#2. Upload it to a Free On line File Storage http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=Free+Online+File+Storage&btnG=Search
#3. Post the link to it here.

:EDIT:
Diagnostic engine/car sounds

1. Already done, sadly, this recording has a couple blips in it due to a wimpy laptop...

2. Host it on my own server: My Engine Right click the link and do "save as".

3. Enjoy! :D

it sounds like a really used gas engine to me.

but to ask the question i replied to ask...:P i use a macintosh g3 ibook as a portable computer, thatll let me record the file in .aiff and 'windows wave' format.

i am assuming that a 'windows wave' file is a .wav and youall will be able to hear it more readily if i use that option? i dont mean to take this off topic, but do windows machines play .aiff files?

ill go and start it so youall can hear the beasts that live inside my engine compartment and beat on things with little metal hammers... and just generally make my life a little more musical.

Windows .wav will be more accessible to the masses.

Check here for a video from inside the E300 Turbodiesel.

maybe someday I'll make a recording. But as my neighbor says, "It's growling at me!"

Sounds like (pause) Victory....

Here's a sportier (albeit reckless) rendition of my 3.0 liter 603.

I can also make one of my of my 350. Recent files will sound absolutely horrible.

That does not sound like a 603. Too much clatter at idle. Doesn't smooth out when revved. What's the deal??

That idle doesn't sound that clattery to me ... I mean the idle about halfway-3/4 into the file ... that sounds about like my car, which as far as I know, sound healthly. I definately never sound like the rest of the file though ... what rpm is that thing running?

redbaronph123 01-13-2006 01:45 AM

Yes, please.
We need bad and good sounding engines.:)

This can be used as a diagnostic sound library.:)

Brandon314159 01-13-2006 10:01 AM

I'll make one up of the 300SD. Since I seem to have one of the few 617's that redlines at 5400-5500 RPM under load...might make for an interesting sound clip! :D

...and yes...I've inspected the bottom end...
