Switch seat bottoms in 123?

Hi. Can the seat bottoms be switched between the two front seats in a 1984 300TD?

My driver's seat is in need of switching or repair. If possible, how much of a job is this?

Thanks!

Randy

Yes the bottoms are the same. you can put a passenger seat back cover on the driver's seat but not the other way around. you have to cut a hole in the pass seat back cover for the arm rest mount.

I am doing this right now!

Except I went to the Junkyard to get a new driver seat. I am putting my upholstery on it.

Actually if you are willing to take the tracks off and exchange seat pads and seat backrests, you can do a swap, the pads are interchangeable but the tracks can get messy with all those screws. The tracks are what determine which seat is passenger and which is drivers.

The hardest part is getting both seats out of the car and on the ground. You need to switch the backs and tracks which arn't that hard. Just be careful you don't rip the leather with the backrest hinges.
