Help... Please!!
I'm in the process of installing a glowplug kit with a bosch glow time controller # 0 281 003 005 on my 1975 240d (616 engine in model 115 body). My cd repair manual shows that it doesn't have the plowplug relay, only the gorilla switch and the salt shaker ( glow indicator). I was able to follow the glowplug installation procedure up to the point where I could not figure out where to put the swicth.
The terminals of the controller are as follows: Pin 1 & 2 - (diagram shows they're connected internally) to terminal 31 (earth) Pin 3 - to terminal 15 fuse box. Pin 4 - to terminal 50 fuse box (starter) Pin 5 - to the provided glow indicator light. Pin 8 - to the positive pole of battery. Pin 9 - to the glow pin plug of cylinder 4. The procedure did not address where to put the switch (connection), it doesn't show also on the diagram. I've been searching the forum for a while but can't find a specific answer to my question so I thought of starting this thread. Thank you so much... George |

I'm giving up ...
on the glow time controller for now, though I still used those pin glowplugs. I notice that in eight to ten seconds the glow indicator is not even glowing, however the car starts real quickly. Now my sign that the glowplugs are activated everytime I pull the gorilla switch are the battery and brake indicator lights on the panel. They flicker everytime I pull the switch to preglow mode. I count 001 to 008 then start the engine and it works. Thanks for the may precious tips from the experts on this forum... George
