Slipping sunroof cable 300D
Hopefully I won't have to find a sunroof shop who knows old M-B's.
I had to replace the fiber gear in my sunroof motor because the old one was worn down, and now the new one isn't grabbing the cable . I cleaned and regreased the rails, cable and cable tube, and this is the last step in reconditioning the S/R. Does anyone know how to adjust the motor to get the cable to catch?

The emergency nut on the side of the motor is also the slip-clutch adjustment. If it has a plastic cap on it slide it off. Back off the outer nut a bit and then tighten the larger one, which is the clutch adjustment. You want it tight enough to catch, but not tight enough to bind the motor when the sunroof has gone all the way along the slide.
If I misunderstood, and your'e saying the gear itself isn't grabbing the cable, I don't know any tricks. When I replaced mine, I popped the motor housing open and slid the gears together over the cogs on the cable, then reassembled. I think it's supposed to be easier then that, though. Ben |

Yea I have that outer bolt tight and it still won't catch the cable.. I don't get this, 'cause the 2 inside gears are both in very good condition.
and the cable is in the motor where the cable would meet the gears, and still won't catch! PITA. I emailed **************, where I got the sunroof repair manual and lube, etc. and called Kent Bergsma there and haven't gotten any reply. FWIW.
