Broke lense on instrument cluster 300D
I was pulling the instrument cluster gently out of the dashboard when the
clear front piece broke free and fell off. Thought I was following procedure. I glued it back on and hope this holds. All the plastic I have touched on the interior has become very brittle on the car. Has anyone else had to glue this clear piece back on ? What did you use ? I used polystyrene cement (model glue). |

Its best to remove the lower panel and push it out. Those hooks are not a good idea. Did the polystyrene cement hold? I've used Shoe Goo.

Actually, to remove the cluster there are special tools (basically wire hooks) that you put between the cluster and dash, and pull the cluster out. Or you can just push it out by removing the under dash panel.
I would avoid pulling it by the lense if possible. When I go to the junkyard, half the time the lense on clusters is pulled off or cracked when somebody tries to pull the cluster out by pulling on the lense. Never glued one on, but any glue that will hold it on should be fine. |

I always push it out from the back..... you just have to pull the kick panel off and then get in the most akward postion you can think of to reach up there where you can push on it.
