All Hail Omegabenz ~ 500,000 MILES!
I saw this milestone buried at the end of an old long thread.
I thought it deserved more recognition. 500,000 Miles! 1/2 a million miles on a 1983 300CD Turbo. Congratulations omegabenz and thanks for making us feel like our 190,000 mile cars are just getting broken in. |
I already 3/5ths of the way there...w00t!
|
I'm 2.33/5ths :D
|
4/5th's and 3/5th's for me
|
I'm impressed...entering into Volvo 240 territory now.:D
|
I hope I can get that many miles out of mine. I would be very proud to have a car with that many miles on it. :wideeyed:
I don't even have enough miles fro the first milage badge. I am close to the 155k mark but not quite there yet. |
im about half way to his 500k.. o yea 260k o yea i need my milage award
|
I don't even qualify for the first Mercedes milage award yet....(but am close on the W123) long way off with the W116 however....
500,000 on one car is no small task...... |

Thank you. I just replaced the glow plugs, and I am back on the road again!
|
Good for you! How much of the driveline is orignal?
I will probably never get my SDL to 500k. Since I don't drive it half the year now, and the half that I do I drive less. Lets see it has just under 254k now, and if I add 5k a year that comes out to 49.2 years. |
Miss January
I'd like to see a photo.
She's 'pin-up' worthy. |

We should put money into the kitty, buy a new MB, and have a cannonball run for it! |

The tranny was rebuilt about 200k miles ago. The engine is original. I rolled in a new timing chain summer 04, new guides, tensioners, etc. All the suspension I rebuilt as well. |
Hey Ether,
We're running neck and neck. Strider just hit 412k. |
can we see some pics of the car? exterior / interior...
kris |
He's posted pics before, either here or on www.500e.com. I don't know how easy it'd be to find them if you tried a search.
It is red, and he has bigger wheels on it. |
so, the real question is what dont you like about it, and what issues does it have?
Looks like a nice ride BTW, I'd love it ~Nate |
I am utterly flabbergasted that a Mercedes odometer went that far without breaking!!!
|
mine is on 260k and from what the previous owner told me it never stopped on her and the original owners paper work never showed any work for the odometer.. but the clock is dead..
|
Even 260k is a nice strech for an odometer.

565 K miles on '85 190-D
My old 190-D is at 565K miles and still running well. Engine rebuilt at 275K? rest of driveline never majored as far as I can tell. Everything works (A/C, clock, etc.) except passenger front window goes down but not up without help. Shows less than normal rash on original paint/interior.

To the moon and back
Omega,
Congrats! When I was racking up miles in my old SDL one of the members here set an arbitrary goal of driving his car "to the moon and back". I looked it up and believe an average distance to the moon is around 240,000 miles. So you have made it there and back! I told my daughters I had made it to the moon in my car, then sold it around 280K. They were so disappointed, they said "you'll never get back from the moon". I'm on my next mission with the newer 300SD. I crossed 150K on the coffee day going to GA. Look out lunar lander, here I come! Chuck |
