126 Wheel well Plug part number needed
Hey friends, can you help?
Due to the factory's rather limited parts diagrams (I'm being kind), my local dealer couldn't determine the correct part number. Perhaps one of you can check this out for me (please?). In the spare tire wheel well, there are two plugs. The forward most plug (centered) is a drain plug with small holes. I don't need this one. In the rear under the spare tire at about 7 o'clock is a plug with an opening diameter of about 1-1/8" to 1-1/4". Can any of you make out the part number? 1985 126 300SD Thanks in advance.

I have been trying to get that plug for years. I tried two dealers neither can get it. So I got another body plug from them thats about the right size and glued it in place.

I just got one of those (6 months ago). But they've changed it. It is no longer rubber, but plastic, and they call it something else because it also fits another hole... having a mental meltdown right now, but I can look at the plug when I get home and get you the number off of it.
Of course, the easy way would be to ask Phil. |

000-997-4020 is the number I got from Allimportedparts.com
But I bet Phil can get them too. |

000-997-4020 is the new part number. Its not the original part number, but its the part number that fits. I just picked up two at the stealership (acutally only paid for one, there were two in the bag!!) They are complete POS and not nearly as well built at the original, but they fit. The Fastlane site (WorldPac) lists the part as a washer reservior plug, but it fits well.
