I set out to have a personal boneyard after the two yards with Mercedes parts here in Austin completely and totally pis*ed me off so bad that I promised myself I would never set foot on their property or give them another penny. So, to answer your question, I have 3 for sure and maybe 5 depending on how I feel about Sybill the SDL and Passion Flower on any given day. As of today the bonafide parts cars (a 115 240D, and a couple of 123 240Ds) and Passion Flower are resting at Greg's Entropy Workshop™. But, as soon as I get my big trailer, I'll be moving them all up to Berry Hill Farm so they can hang out with the moo-cows.

All totalled, I have under $1000 tied-up in parts cars and they have already paid for themselves in the goodies I've used on my cars and other projects.

The "used to be silver" 300D is my parts car. Broken chain
The driver's door on the wagon is from one of R Leo's parts cars. (weird deal, but it has been a life saver as my old one was smashed and wouldn't close)
Randy, Passion Flower would be a hard call. I don't think it is too far gone to save, not at all. On the other hand, it would take alot of TLC and $ to get to the level of your maroon one. It would either make a very complete parts car for you, or a nice project wagon for you or someone else. It's worth saving for the name alone.....
My poor parts car has a trashed motor, but a pretty good interior and what felt like a great suspension when I acquired it. If I ever ran accross a NA 5cyl engine it would be a tough call.... Not any rust at all except where leaves collected at trunk lid. Easily fixable. NONE elsewhere....
I so easily succumb to temptation....

A Nice Pair

Have a pair of 300SD's behind the barn, always scanning the countryside for a lucky find and cannot pass an old Mercedes without looking back at the trunk lid to see what it is.

Paid $1400 for the two cars an 81 and 83 some might say that was a lot but I am weel ahead in what I have used already.

Live in GF moans like hell about it but then i remind her that her front wheel drive POS in the drive is the only car out there that is not paid for!

2 parts cars

I got two, which one do you think runs? They are both 83 300sd mercedes'. The brown one has been stripped of all the interior and quite a bit else too, but it still has an engine and all the parts that come with the engine. Includes a tranny and I believe there is a turbocharger in there. The good part about that car is that I got some rims for more tires. The red one runs nicely. It has a lot of miles on it and some pretty major rust spots but it works. I will be doing something with it in the future. Right now it is sittin and chillin.

I have three parts cars that I am ready to get rid of. Anyone interested?

I have:

US 81 300D, no rust body, engine ran away, clear coat gone
Euro 80 240D 4speed shell, no front springs or engine
Euro 84 240D 4speed complete with 80 engine in car, original engine on stand, needs crank turned and bearings. Clearcoat going away. Some light body damage.

I live in the boondocks so having parts cars is not a problem as it would be in the city.

Have a great day,

I live in a suburb that is becoming more and more upscale by the minute...million dollar McMansions all over the place. We live in a 35-year old "subdivision colonial" that isn't the least bit fancy. We can't even put up fences in the city limits, which makes dogs a real treat to deal with. I keep all of my dormant cars at my place of employment...it's a large bodyshop, and there are probably 20+ parts cars laying around on "death row" that belong to employees. Neat little benefit to working there.

One of my parts cars ('79 300SD) that I bought 8 years and 65,000 miles ago is on its last ride. I'm now in FL so if makes it home, I'll be happy. Then it will truly be a parts car.

Save Passion Flower?...no kidding. Simply the knowledge that $700 car spent a winter on Long Island, a summer in Skagway and was driven to both those places from Austin on a $200 junkyard transmission makes me pause a moment in reflection when I steal parts off of her.

I don't really fit into any of these categories...

...I do have parts cars...just not DIESEL parts cars laying around.

Is there a choice "No I don't have any Mercedes diesel parts cars?"

Hehe
