New motor mounts = AWESOME!!!!
Upon cranking the 190D over tonite after installing the motor mounts, I honestly thought the engine stalled, but I did hear a faint running sound in the background, and a glance at the tach confirmed the engine was running! The diesel is now smooth as a gasser at idle!!!! I cannot believe the difference new motor mounts made.
And no more violent "clunk" when shutting the engine down! At first I thought I had the wrong replacement mounts, since the new ones were about 3/4" taller than the old ones, but the part numbers were the same; looks like the old ones were flattened. It was very hard to determine the mounts were bad via a pry bar, as the engine appears to move just as much as it did with the old ones, but "floats" on the new mounts. Big thanks to DieselBone for suggesting new mounts! It’s like driving an entirely different vehicle now. -John

yup did them myself. they are really easy, they key to doing them is to have a high quality set of allen wrenches(craftsman and up) and to clean the heads out really well before trying to remove the allen bolts.

I just ordered a new set of motor mounts for my 96 E300D-108k. They should be in next week. The car vibrates in reverse and idle a lot and I think this should fix it.
