Whats the highest you have ever seen a wagon go for $$$
Just wondering what the highest anyone has seen a wagon go for? I have seen a couple at 6-7K but this one beats them all. Of course who knows what it is actually going to go for, but good luck to her.
http://portland.craigslist.org/car/127930986.html Anyone seen one higher. I'm guessing some of you in Cali might be able to top this. |

"Even new bosch wipers." WOW, that seals the deal!
But, yea I just saw (to my knowledge) a wagon that is up to like 6500$ on ebay today, its nuts since it has 175,000, but this one definitely beats it. I just don't understand how anyone would think of selling a car regardless of money put in, for 9,000 if it has 212,000 on it.

I noticed ALL of the bidders IDs were privite when I veiwed the "bid history". I don't do ebay. Is this...Fishy? I wonder why it had to have a new engine at 135K miles? Lack of proper maintenence? |

The Portland market seems absolutely ridiculous. I've been looking for a descent wagon for years with no luck (3-4k range). There are several buyers/sellers based in Portland (and Oregon City) who specialize in turning over diesel W123s for a profit (on both ebay and craigslist). They typically buy cars in the 2-3k range and then re-sell them in the 4-5k range (or worse).
Biodiesel is becoming _very_ trendy out here. On the good side, gassers can still be found on the cheap. Unfortunately I'm a diesel addict...

Yep, I've spoken with this guy in Oregon City when I first started looking for my mercedes. He tried to sell me a wrecked 123 for 1500. He said he could sell the engine for almost that. I just had to laugh and of course never came back. He uses some pretty cheap tactics selling it too. The car I actually purchased was at his place at one point, before it ended up in the junkyard. Needed head work and a new tranny. I guess he couldn't fool anyone. But Holy Smokes. 14,300. That is something else all together. |

I had an '85 with 104k miles and got $6500 for her. I thought that was a little light, but oh well.

Hah so what I read is that I should jack the price on my 240D when I sell it becuase it is uh...biodiesel ready?
Dumb... I've ran many a gallon of bio-d through the engine (homebrew) and I might mention it in the ad....but its not a main selling point by any stretch of the word. Now my 300SD...that would have some selling points worth mentioning |

Its crazy in Seattle as well.
I sold my 85 300TD wagon w/200k+ miles for $8200 a few months ago. Nice wagons with the third row seat go for a premium. They are a good alternative to a minivan, and the biodiesel buzz makes it an easy sell in the Pacific NW. I sold it via our local craigslist, to the first person who responded, and had two other people ready to buy if the first deal didn't happen.
I loved the 85, but my 87TD is a much better car. You don't get style points, but the economy and power is so much better. Once I found my 87 and drove it a while, I was more than happy to sell the 85.

Yeah!
I was about to actually ask the same question. I know I've never actually seen one but then again I've never taken a more than a quick glance at the wagons before.

There was a wagon on cl yesterday for $4k... http://portland.craigslist.org/car/128236493.html. I called about it... ~340k miles, leaks on rear floor boards, power window issues, requires manual engine shutdown, didn't ask about rear sls... I just can't justify $4k for such a car. I'd like to find one with under 250k miles... please let me know if you come across any.
