My 300SD gets noticed...often people meet me and somehow or another it comes up what we drive.

They usually know that I park on top of Parking Structure 3...that tan car

There is a red 300SD (w116) up there that I want to investigate the owners off. I love seeing other 617 powered vehicles

There is this BABE (my sort of euro/chick/goth) sort that drives a w116 300SD around....still haven't met her. Just glanced at the back of her car once.

Ugly

Though mine doesn't drive yet my friends say my W115 is Ugly. Some freinds I say. I just have to think they are jealous. All I see is beauty.

Hmmmm maybe it has something to do with it not really running yet and missing headlights . Well I'll show them in a week or two.

Though I go to a school with a bunch of rich kids who have a different car for each season there is no doubt I will be the king of the parking lot!!!!

And no way am I parking in the corner. This thing has been resurected and is going right in the front where everybody can see it. Dings can be fixed. pysichiatric disorders from being abused and stuffed in the corner is no way for a W115 Mercedes to live.

Hey Brandon, You need to chase that girl down. Not like you can't keep up.

My company parking lot is filled with some cool cars, like 2003 Corvette's and that little BMW Sportster and a Porche 944.
But the otherday I heard some guys atthe coffee mess talking. "Who drives that old Mercedes?" I heard. "Thats a really cool car. It sure has some personality!!"
I was flabbergasted and stunned. Maybe i should be using the SAAB as a banger!
Couple of buddies that work at Bosch get paid extra (I think its like $20) a month to drive a diesel to work.

At the marina I kind of have a few "reserved" spots that I get my pick of. Usually I grab the one next to the owners driveway. This way one side is up against the driveway and the other is usually next to a car that the owners are away for a few weeks.

No one cares what it is, usually it is parked next to 6 other MB's of various ages and models. 911, Viper, H1, Range Rovers ect lots of high end cars in the parking lot no one cares.

Their are a few guys that are into MB's and P cars and we talk a bit and check out eachothers rides once in awhile.

I am retired and work at a golf course (Pinehurst, NC) I get a lot of questions about my 1984 300 DT (290,000)...as you might imagine there are a lot of newer Mercedes, Porches, BMW's, etc. in the parking lot. Some of the newer Mercedes owners tell me that sure wished they had their old 300 back.

New paint job about 6 months ago and I also try to park away from the crowd, but as you know ..you can park a mile away in the Wal-Mart parking lot and somebody will always park beside you, never quite figured that one out.

My blue '84 300SD attracts a lot of attention in my compay parking lot. In fact, many admiring looks go in its direction, through out the day, from those that pass by. And BTW, I park in the CEO's, and sometimes the CFO's, parking spot, in the most prominate spaces of course.

I own a book store and as a part time job, I deliver pizzas on the weekend. I got my 85 300D because the deliveries were putting way too many miles on my 04 Tundra. I have noticed a huge drop in tips now that I drive a 21 year old car that cost me 1250 that gets over twice the "gas" milage versus the truck that cost 29000. I guess people still think "this dude drives a Mercedes, he does not need the cash".

Not really on topic but...

Once at the mall there was 3 of us with TD's all parked along the very back row side by side! 2 dark blue and one white! I waited about an hour or so to meet the owners but no one showed It was like an impromptu TD g2g
2 weeks later it happened again at Home Depot! It was my dark blue TD a light blue TD and a brown 300SD 116 ! I waited again but got impatient/ chickened out! I don't know why though

I work at a company that supplies chassis components primarily for Ford, GM, and Chrysler. A few people at work give me a little heat for driving ‘non-domestic’ cars, but most think that it is cool. When I drive my 1985 300D everyone knows that I am at work because it is by far the oldest car in the lot by age and style. I am constantly stared at on the road. You see I live near Defiance, Ohio where GM has the world’s larges cast iron foundry. This territory is big on ‘big three’ cars. There are imports, but they are few, therefore a W123 really stands out, bigtime.

Once in a while if I drive my wife’s 1999 E300 EVERYONE REALLY knows that I am at work and anyone outside at the smoking shack stares at me when I come in.

One of my co-works is from the U.K. and he thinks that I am all right since I drive European cars. He says that it is my job to show everyone else how good European cars are. I am not 100% convinced on that because he has a 1989 Jaguar XJ12 and I am not too impressed with some of it quality and engineering.

I get ribbed because I have the same kind of car as my boss - a silver Mercedes. His just happens to be two years old.

If you don't understand why he would lease, perhaps you are not financialy astute and do not understand the benefits of leasing.....

Why lease when you can own a better car outright?

Yeah the Mercedes stigma is most often applied to vintage boxcar body models like the w123. More modern "jelly bean" versions seem to get by unnoticed.

Meanwhile if you cobble together something like a $2000 halfway decent 1972 w108 sedan then folks will think you're the richest man alive.

Because leasing is often cheaper, leaving more money for other investments.
