seller says 603 engine recently had valve adjustment

My querry to this seller:
"What do you mean when you say The valves have also been recently adjusted ... crucial for good diesel performance?
The valves in this car CANNOT BE ADJUSTED! Whoever told you that doesn't know anything about this model!"
see it for yourself: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-Mercedes-300D-diesel-only-108k-miles-MINT_W0QQitemZ4607121398QQcategoryZ6330QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Yep.....another genius.

Looks like a fine vehicle, however. One of the better looking W124's out there!

Optimistic view:

recent valve adjustment = engine started

That's always a Good Thing.

Wonder if the engine Recently Rebuilt (whatever that means...)

Thumbs up

My SDL is the same color combo, black with a maroon interior. I like it, not the first car I've owned with a maroon interior.

Anything is better than Brown... er... Brazil.

and on the note of the ugly colored interior, whats up with the red interior and the beige headliner and handles? Is that a normal MB thing in the W124?(considering my experience is with a W123, and my brothers W126)

Exactly! Plus all the weird options on mine, I dig it! Just wish they had SLS on them.

Yeah, that is factory. Some of them had tri-colored interiors.

Nonetheless, I think it is still in awesome conditions.

The trunk mounted badges say it all ... great performance from the 6-cylinder fuel injected Turbo Diesel engine and 32-35 miles per gallon, day in and day out.

It's ready to drive home ... it's as simple as that.

Fly in and drive it home ... what could be easier?.

Elegant as well as practical ... could one ask for more?

Purchase this fine example of German engineering and fellow Mercedes aficionados will look to you with envy in their hearts

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300D is indeed a step above the rest

It's hard for the mind to fathom that this black beauty is 19 years old

I think this guy went through every mercedes brochure ever made to get these corny lines

I love the red. It's the depressing bluish gray interior that's in a lot of MBs and BMWs that I can't stand.

It looks like a nice 300D though, typical ebay flipper. He probably picked the car up local real cheap and doesn't know anything about it. He probably has a generic add and just changes the pics and a few sentences.

He is nuts asking $11k for it. For that kind of money I could get a 1997-98 E320 with less miles.
