New Diesel Forum Site

HI Gang; I was at Bobistheoilguy.com, and a post was made of a new Diesel site, Dieselforecast.com.

I hope it will be informative on the new announcements forthcoming from the Manufacturers. I found the Hyundai, announcement that it wants to beat the others into the USA Market, with Automotive Diesels, in the next few months, very interesting.

Sorry about the spelling error. Are we friends now?

Hey thanks that was a nice site. The Grand Cherokee Bluetec sounds great. I am still waiting for the Nissan Titan diesel.

If you're like me, you'd probably hate the Grand Cherokee if it ends up looking like the current model. I drove one last summer, and the field of vision is the worst of any vehicle I have ever been in, and that includes 5-ton diesel trucks with a cab on the back blocking off the entire back of the cab.

Very limited view, very unsafe feeling while driving it. Wouldn't dream of backing up on a property that had kids on it.....

Very nice site. I still don't like statements like 'there is no clean diesel engine'. I believe it depends on what you burn in your engine. Does anybody know anything about the emissions of biodiesel compared to gasoline? How about fuel economy? I think it is worse for the environment to use 10 gallons of gasoline in your car on a set distance than driving that same distance with the same car equipped with a diesel engine using only 5 gallons of (bio)diesel.

Reality is about 7-8 gallons of diesel to 10 of gasoline. No matter what you burn diesel is better for the environment. Not only is it a higher energy fuel but a fundamentally more efficient combustion cycle. I think bio is especially good because I think it reduces NOX emmisions whish is the primary dangerous pollutant in diesel exhaust. It would be interesting if you factor in pollution from production which is really better. Diesel or bio. I am totally for bio though if it is from wvo since this is recycling.

I found this several articles down the list: I think they were talking about my '83 300D.

Five Ways To Sell Environmentally Friendly Vehicles
by Editorial Staff

Environmental Friendly Vehicles must sell in large numbers to keep costs low, consumers need much more education, biofuels must be promoted, governments need to restrict CO2, and older gross-polluting cars must be retired, says Jean-Martin Folz, CEO of PSA Peugeot Citroën.(more)

They'll have to pry my hands off the steering wheel!

Oh great! All we need is some purportedly greeny Frenchman that just wants to sell us a car making suggestions about environmental policy here in the U.S. If we would just get the facts, from our own reliable sources, newer diesel vehicles would be more available here.

Honda gets good praise, I like the crankshaft offset design to reduce traditional diesel clatter.
