help with AL129X w126 617 install

can some one please tell me how i go about mounting this burly alt onto the 617's mount...and what to do about the belt/s?

my alternator i've discovered is dying, and i want to replace it with this AL129x for more power..i am going to have my mechanic do it as i need some brake work done on the car. He tried mounting the 129X but couldnt as it didnt mount-straight up, so i've turned to the forum for some instructions, i know a lot of u have done this for their 617s and I would like to know specifically how and what was involved. I understand the belt systems are different?

specifically what parts are required? belts/mounts etc etc

Thanks

Kris

Hey Kris,

Well when I installed this in my car, I used the stock belts, the stock pully (off your old alternator unless the AL129X has the new dual row V-belt pully), and stock mounting hardware.

You MAY have to reclock the alt to get the wires/stuff to come out right. basically you remove the 4 case screws and pull it apart (take out the regulator first) and then turn it however much you need to make it fit nice.

It is a tricky thing to fit in the car...but it is by no means impossible. It wasn't much of a job for me to put it in...you just have to get some bolts/stuff right and you loose a bit of your adjustment range. However I found if you use stock belts that you don't need this range anyway

If your mechanic can't do this you need a new mechanic...

if i had the parts here with me i would do it myself...but alas i dont. the car's fate is in my fathers control not mine--else i would order up a al129x from fastlane and do it up...maybe when i get some excess funds.

i dont get why he couldnt do it thou...i mean has anyone with a 300SD had it done, brandon i know u have and urs was a direct match...but they said mine wasnt...anyone have that issue?
