engine swap from w201 to W124

Greetings,
have been looking for an 87 300TDT but have not found much to my liking.
Thinking now of buying an 87 300TE and using the engine, tranny etc out of my 86 W201 2.5L D. Wondering whether anybody has done this and has advice to give. Don't need a powerful car as I am retired. Although my W201 has been driven 60000 miles only resale value would be low. Thanks
