Beefmaster?
Couldn't help but notice the cows gathered around your new aquisition. Are they Beefmaster? I have a few cattle myself.

Running?
If your referring to daily driver, i'ts a 2005 Silverado 3500 Duramax. The MB's are project cars right now. The 420SEL or the 240D will be for my son. If your talking cattle, I've got 1 Beefmaster-Limousine bull, 1 mix field cow red brindle in color, 1 Florida Cracker steer, and 1 year old heifer. Too many goats to count right now. Having babies soon. Want to get rid of cattle I have right now and get 3 good purebred cows. Angus,Beefmaster,Charlois something of that sort. I do like the look of those Brangus.

Those Brangus are good looking, aren't they? We joke about how they always look like they just came from the groomers. FWIW, the cattle in the pictures belong to my neighbor who has a lease to run his herd and take hay off my land. We're gearing up to run a small cow-calf operation on the 100+ acres we bought last year and, while new to the cattle biz, we are learning...sometimes hard, sometimes fast. The '06 plan is to buy a few bred heifers sometime in the next 4 weeks so the calves can go to market before the end of the year and generate some cash flow. The lease works well for us since we're non-resident, at least until we can finish a house up there. Bill is OK with us adding ours to the mix and, is willing to let his bulls service too. 8 little ones here since the first of the year...Bill calves all year. Mild winters, you know. Beefmaster-Limousin bull? Wow, does that boy have enough Brahaman in him to deal with the heat in Florida? Around central-south Texas, you practically need 25% Brahaman-influence for heat tolerance. But, it's a balancing act since too much Brahaman gets their ears too big. Big ears = frostbitten ears in northern tier feedlots. I do like the looks of those Limousin but purebreds here almost need airconditioning to make it through the summer. Quote:

I'll have to get a picture of the Cracker Cattle for you. Basically a way undersized version of Longhorn. Always skinny. Beef's and Limo's do fairly well here. There are alot of Brahman mix as well. Heat tolerance and size being major factors. I've only got 5 1/2 acres here.

South central TX huh. Ever heard of a small town out there Alba? Near Quitman. My family tree basically crawled out from a rock out there.
