Mystery wire on 300D Climate control
Here a real stumper that I need your expert advice PLEASE. My climate control on my 85 300d was starting and stopping, clicking, and operating erratically. I pulled the CC unit and before unplugging the left and right harness connectors, I tugged on each while the heater was on. To my surprise, tugging on the left (temp wheel side) wiring bundle duplicated the problem. Unplugging and then pulling on the wires back of the connector, I saw a red (or orange)/yellow and also a red/black wire loose. Here's the mystery. There are 13 wires in the bundle and only 12 connector pins in the connector that plug into the CC unit. Taking a chance, I soldered the red/yellow back to the connector where it was obvious a wire had pulled loose. Where in the dickens does the red/black loose wire in the left side bundle of wires go? It is the same length as the others but there are only 12 pins! Thanks

If I'm reading this wiring diagram correctly...
there should be 2 red and black wires on one connector pin This may be pin 12, at least that's the one it is on the wiring diagram I have for an '83 380SL.
Perhaps someone else can chime in with an exact pin for you. Regards, Richard Wooldridge '82 300D/4.3L V6/t700R4 conversion '79 450SL '75 280C |

That's a start
Thanks. At least I haven't lost my mind seeing an extra wire. Just wonder if the wiring is the same? Anyone else know the wiring on a 300D?
