Ever see Nickel plated trim?

I'd like to take a car that needs a lot of chrome restoration
and do the whole thing in Nickel.

I believe that it's easier because I think that Nickel plating
is the first stage of chrome plating?

I've got a Nickel plating kit... but I haven't set it up.
I know chroming has gotten expensive...
but if you could Nickel plate yourself, it might be pretty cheap.

I think the satiny finish might look rich and elegant.
Some Nickel plated pistols look really nice.

I replaced some of the chrome nuts and bolts on my bike with stainless steel. It is also less shiny than chrome.
I like the way it looks.

Yeah on old boats they nickel plated everything then polished it. It kind of looks like chrome.

However it doesn't last and is very high maintaince, so it was replaced with chrome.

I think it was commen 70+ years ago. I am trying to remember but I think in the early 30's all the big boat makers went over to chrome.

I would only nickel plate anything if it was period correct and you planned on showing it in a demanding show. I think the judge's would probably deduct for not having it.

Personaly I would rather used polished stainless. You can make stainless look just as good as chrome, I do it all the time.
