i dont know

what if any difference there is. some think they are quicker. i cant say for sure but mine seemed reasonably peppy. it would go 100 with the 346 or the 308 rear end. good economy too.

orange

That colour is quite common on the UK cars or that era, it is one shade better than the pee pee yellow 300D that i used as a south london minicab (taxi) back in the mid 80s

Our US cars have an American Bosch IP while the Euro cars have a Bosch IP. They are COMPLETELY different. I now have an American Bosch IP on my Euro car, but you have to bend the lines around like crazy to put it on there.

If anyone is interested in a Euro 4 Speed project car, my 240D is not perfect but relative to THAT car it would be considered mint condition.

Have a great day,

Love Orange

That isn't quite the pumpkin orange. We have a couple here in Portland a little more pumkin colored and they are rusted too but it is a hot looking color.

As for the shifter it does look a little over. As for being on the left my parents used to have a german imported Porche 928 that had reverse in the top left. I'm assuming this is the same. Yet it isn't suppossed to be that far over I assume.

Anyone else notice the positive battery terminal is disconnected. I wonder if the car has electrical gremlins to repair too. Seeing that thing makes me think that I should put my 240D on ebay. The body condition is similar but the engine is shot and in pieces. If he can get over $1200 I should get $800 no problem.

huh?????

"I attempted to contact you 2 or 3 times a couple of days ago when I was in Hershey PA but you did not respond to my emails. I have to agree with the other fellow when I say the shifter in the 300 looks very odd. Where is its neutral position? I have purchased several of these cars on Ebay and the majority of the time I find myself being disappointed. Baltimore is a long way from home and I do not wish to have any unexpected surprises. Please reply my email.

A: The shifter is straight and in good condition . I had it in reverse position when I took the pictures . The neutral in in middle ( the regular neutral position . I'm 100% sure of this . thanks

Is the shifter really bent like that? It shifts fine that way? Is there any frame/chassis rust? Thank you very kindly! Best regards, Paul Nelson Athens, GA 30601

A: NO , the shifter is notbent . it was in gear when pictures were taken . thanks"

Look at what the seller says.

"I had it in reverse position when I took the pictures"

"it was in gear when pictures were taken"

conspiracy??

i havent seen headlights like that before, what market are they from, anybody know? i was thinking uk but it is a left hand drive car so that doesnt fit unless it has uk lights wrongly installed. if so they will have light patterns that are weird for the us. my dad used to have a volvo coupe with uk lights and the pattern threw too much light to the left cause it was designed to light up the left side ot the road. the right berm was not lit well so you felt a little blind on that side.

i've seen one like it....my car..

anyway, that car being sold is definitely on its way to the grave. and that shifter is definitely in the wrong angle.

If those headlights are original... I'm fairly confident its a French import, and not a German.

Its French spec headlights.. the French law at the time required yellow fogs.

I think you're right. The original headlights have clear fog lamps, but other than that there's no difference. I know when the W123 first came out, even the 300D had the round headlights, similar to the ones we got here in the US, but later on Mercedes switched to the rectangular ones for the 300 series that was sold outside the US.

Go here and look at the lights on the car in post #39. Round Euros.

In Australia, practically every 123 I saw had those.
