Just for those who have been curious about my 87 300D.

I know you are fed up with it, but I still think its a nice car.

vwbuge 02-06-2006 10:51 AM

Sorry I am not up to speed. Is there something wrong with it? Looks like a nice car.

Cl

Were you trying to sell this on Craigs list. I remember seeing a 87 on there and the picture looks exactly the same. I don't see it posted anymore but it was on there not to long ago.

Same one. I blew a tranny seal recently just as someone was going to look at it so I pulled it from CL. I have the tranny out now and I just need to drop it off at the tranny shop some time this week. I might have it rebuilt at the same time and then it'll be back for sale. Got all the bugs out except for the sunroof and rear head-rest unlock solenoid.
Overall its a nice looking car. Runs great.
I have no desire to keep it. Too complicated.

Took my tranny to the shop yesterday for the seals. They took it apart while I waited to see what else it needed. They found it needed new bands and clutch packs needed rebuilding. I saw them and I agreed. It'll get a few updates as well. They called me today to let me know it was ready. Hopefully this weekend it'll go back into the car and the car will be back up for sale.

If you don't mind me asking about what did the trans shop charge you? I may be sending mine off.

Yeah!! I am curious how much that'd be as well....

Still shifting good at 234k, seals were redone at 212k and they said the rest of it still looked in very good shape and should last quite a while yet. (and this was the dealer!!) So I am rooting for 300k+ on "original tranny" :D

Nice color. ;)
Looks like my car's big brother. :D :D

Sure does. I often have to take a second look when a 124 or 201 go by me in the other direction.

OK you guys twisted my arm enough. The tranny job ran me $600 but I did negotiate down the price. I'm also going to replace the rear main seal while I'm at it. Cheap insurance.

sailor15015 02-09-2006 05:05 PM

That doesn't sound like too bad of a price. I'll probably try to find a place to do mine when I pull the motor and tranny out of my wrecked car.

Diesel Giant 02-09-2006 06:56 PM

Yea that price is not so bad.
Doing a tranny pictorial is on the list, if I get the 240d with the slipping tranny.
