As some of you all know, i recently replaced my starter(or something of the likes) as well as my glow plugs on the 81 TD. Today, for some odd reason, I applied the brakes as I normally would but near making a complete stop, I feel a slight jerk, almost as if the brakes softened. It's hard to explain, but the effect that I think it makes is that I can't shift into second gear as fast as I normally would. Now, as I accelerate from a complete stop, the car growls for over five seconds and finally slips into second and is finally able to pick up speed. This problem will ultimately put me in very dangerous positions on the road so I'm relying on you Mshop . Thanks for all your wonderful help.

sounds like the trans is slipping. do a search and you will find a ton of info on it
