Virtual Wrench Bending...
Here is what I'll be doing starting tonight....Please look over this list and add anything I may not have thought about. Most of this stuff is peace of mind and PM type stuff. Trying to get this car back to Road Warrior Status!

You didn't mention checking your timing: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/143983-proper-way-measure-chain-stretch.html Danny |
Aside from what you know needs to be done on your car, I'd say change the brake fluid, clear the drain holes, and check tire pressure.
|
Yahhh...brake bleed and flush....also added wheel bearing repack & adjust...clear drain holes, why not. Thanks!
Danny, I've read that thread 4 times and it just ain't sinking into my head. I know you know how to do it, but I don't! However, I am hooking up with a bunch hardcore MB nuts and I'm hoping they do! |
clean banjo bolt at rear of intake and check line from there through o-boost to alda
replace fuel filters check air filter .......for starters |
Hey, NASCAR has some "famous" driver telling everyone to check their tire pressure, so DO IT!
|
banjo's, fuel & air filters...be there done that.
OK, OK! I'll check the air in my tires. Also added clean all ground points & new climate control foam hose to sensor. So far just a bunch of nick-knack-patty-wack stuff....hope it stays that way! |
Mismost,
WHy don't you change the air in your tires too. It would make as much sense as some of the things you want to do. Ever hear of :" If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? P E H |
Preventitive maintaince
unless he seriously fubars something up, I dont see how any of thoose items mentioned could hurt anything ~Nate |
Purge should be done first, then change oil&filter.
|
how about the injector return lines that are between the injectors? Those should be replaced every so often too.........
|
How many miles on this car. Are you running the original muffler bearings?
|
Muffler bearings! See, I knew I'd forget something!
It was some list and some didn't get done....I do agree with the if it ain't broke, don't fix it plan...however, I am your basic traveling salesman. Where you guys might drive 400 miles in a month, I may do that in 2 days (in fact Monday-Tuesday was 428 miles). A lot of this stuff I did was just to reduce my "pucker factor" and I wanna know where this car is maintance-wise. Outta all the stuff I did to it, I think the best thing was new front shocks...she corners a lot better now. The second best was just putting about 150 miles on it...seems like the more I drove it, the smoother it ran. Pretty neat old cars, except for all the oil slinging. That turbo oil drain back to the pan assembly is a real piece crap....and I still haven't found the flasher/relay for the turn signals/hazard lights! Thank goodness for those Haynes manuals, they worth almost as much as the paper they are printed on. |
