Thumbs up

I bought a muffler for my SD as the one on there has a hole from hitting the pavement (PO did this)... cost me $8 and about 30min with the ol' hacksaw.

Picked up the resonator/muffer for the SDL at another yard... $35. Had to carry that heavyass mofo about 300 yards to the front! At least I have the correct pipes again.

Moral of story? $600 is comedy.

Like Texas in the smaller counties, as long as you have lights and it'll stop... you're good.

You better look for a different shop. If they can't even open a hood, how are they supposed to handle an emissions tester??? For your exhaust: patch it. You're about to being ripped off.

Not being able to open the hood?

Understandable but that is the EXACT reason I do not let anyone else touch or work on my car (except for occasionaly tires) unless I am standing there watching.

Most of the time I do all the work myself...becuase if someone messed up putting a pin in my brakes, or forgot to tighten this or that, or tweaked something they shouldn't have....I don't need to find that failure going 100+ down the freeway or 65 on the twisty roads

Course I don't like forking out the green for someone else to do work that would most likely not even be on par with my own.

My "downpipe" or header pipe was broken in two when I received my car. It was noisy and smoky under the hood and in the cabin. I ordered a new one on-line for $125, drove the car up on ramps, and changed it myself in about an hour. Just need some open-end wrenches and some PB Blaster.

The front end was STUCK on to the rear end of the turbo. I stuck a 2x2 into it (since it was broken at the corrugated part) and twisted it around until it popped off.

Always better to replace it instead of wrap and clamp. Though for the few days I was waiting on the part, I used thick aluminum tape and clamps which did the trick, and I bet would have passed inspection.

Last time I was at the junk yard I got an entire exhaust for $35 turbo to tail pipe and no rust. Very easy to hook up. I hate it for all you guys in the rust belt.

Go get another estimate.

took it to a muffler shop and they replaced the section of pipe for $70. probably could have gotten it done cheaper elsewhere, but my dad has dealt with this shop a while back and they did good work before when they replaced the front half shafts on my sister's honda. although that would be kinda difficult to mess up, lol.
