diesel conv. to '88 Range Rover

Does anyone know of a diesel engine conversion kit for a U.S. spec. '88 range rover with the ZF 4sp auto. tranny? I'm looking at the 2.5 td 5cyl. or the 3.0 td 6cyl. mercedes as a possibility.

Thanks,

Courtland

I have never seen one for the us versions, but I have seen the GM 6.5 liter conversions available for them.

That site is cool. Did you see how he made an adapter to mate the 240d engine to the rover tranny.

A friend of mine wants to do the same thing in his 95 classic. I figure we could use the 617 engine and tranny with a new process transfercase. apparently dodge had unmarried fulltime transfercases in military pickups and you can still buy them surplus. using that combo would relieve you of having to make an adapter. The down side is no overdrive like in the zf automatic so you might want to go with big tires.
