uh oh tranny leak!
My dad's recently bought 78 300D was leaking tranny fluid, the day we bought it put a new tranny filter and new tranny fluid and it seemed to have fixed the problem.
But the whole week he was driving it he noticed it was shifting harder and checked the tranny dipstick and it was bone dry! He just rushed to autozone dumped some tranny flud in and drove it home, this morning tranny fluid was all over the street and dipstick showed it was dry again. Any thoughts? I might as well ask here before he takes it to a tranny shop.

Check the ATF cooler lines that run on either side of the oil pan. They fit into clips that can crease the metal line. I still have to "properly" replace my line since it sprung a leak. What I did was to take a pipe cutter and cut it in two. Then I stuck both ends into an oil cooler line so they met in the middle of the section, and clamped it off. It's still holding, but I do plan to fix it some time soon.

You will have to get under the car with it ideling and you will probably see the leak. There are a great many places an automatic tranny will leak from.
