Well yes Startron should be a given and in every tank if you have a microbe problem. Dont forget to diesel purge!

Purge

I have purged twice in the last 30,000 miles I have driven the car using the Lubro Molly. I didn't get to West Marine yet, but did add an entire big bottle of the LUCAS diesel treatment.

I think you guys are onto what it is. I will change the hand primer pump to new style. and when my tank gets low, I will remove the screen and clean it.

PS - went by the body shop and picked up my newly painted bundt rims. Man do they look good!!! $200 to have base-coat clear coated on both sides with Du Pont. When I get the new tires she is gonna look sweet!
