Wow!

Can you actually feel a difference in power when you disconnect the EGR or are my 'vibration-smoothening drugs' too strong?

It's more of a change in the pedal position. The vehicle doesn't have any more "power" because the EGR is not working at maximum power, but, you may think it has more power when driving around town because you don't need to press down quite as far to make it move. It's a subtle change, however, and you acclimate to it within hours, and then you can't tell the difference.

A similar situation when larger tires or a taller rear end are installed I noticed a slight lack of pickup around town.......need a bit more pedal to make it go........but the sensation fades very quickly and within a day........I now believe that the vehicle accelerates "normally".

Evil EGR

Cummins was able to get their engines to pass the EPA test without and EGR for many years. The imperialist govt. wants diesels to have the same emissions out the diesel tail pipe that a gas engine puts out. Even if the gas engine guzzles more fuel.
