Rack Damper Adjustment on 81 300D
Hello all
I have some shaking during idle in my 81 300D. I was searching around the forum for answers, and came up with the rack damper adjustment, among other things. But the adjustment nut on my injection pump is not on the back of the pump near the oil filter housing like in the pictures posted on the forum. There does not seem to be an adjustment bolt with a nut anywhere on my IP. I even looked for the part at Fast Lane and there does not seem to be one for the 81 300D's. I looked for rack damper, and governor idle adjuster both. Does the 81 300D have a different rack damper adjuster ? If it does have an adjuster, where is the little bugger ? Thank You RichC

Yes the Diesel Injection DIY's are great. Pretty sure I have read all of them, and went over them again, still have not found anything about the rack damper adjustment being somewhere different on the 81 300D. But sometimes I cant see the things right in front of me.
Am I missing something basic ? Where is the rack damper adjustment ?

Does your '81 have the idle adjust knob on the dash underneath the main instruments? If so, are you using it to raise the idle until the engine warms up? May also need to slightly adjust the minimum idle up a bit for winter or your vehicle.

As was stated above, if your 300D is non turbo then you dont' have an adjustment and get to look for another problem

If it's not there you can't find it.
Thats why it cant be found, its not there.
Just like the Bowden cable. Well, hope the injectors that nazrat traded me do the trick. Thanks guys, this forum is great. RichC
