Fuel Tank?? What is this in Picture?
I am planning on replacing all the fuel lines and the strainer located above the main fuel line going into the bottom of the tank soon. I saw this rubber piece in the bottom of the fuel tank and kinda looks wet around it. I am thinking it might be a cover for a drain plug but wanted to ask on here before I try pulling it out and have my tank dump. Maybe I need to replace the gasket around the drain plug? If there is one underneath it.
Thanks

That thing on the bottom is the metal wheel well for the spare (under the floor of the trunk) The fuel tank is inbetween the rear firewalls and the rear seat, right above the rear axle. Does it have a smell, it looks like the rubber lines inbetween the tank and metal lines are leaking and its drooling along there, I'll bet thats the problem.

That looks like a trunk water drain to me. Like the ones behind the rear wheel wells. The fuel tank in the sedans isn't underneath the car, it's in the front most part of the trunk, I believe.

Thanks.
That makes sense now. I will be replacing the line soon.

There's one of those little rubber thingies in each trunkwell as well. It's a good idea to make sure they are not filled with crud from either side (just in case something spills, or your window gasket is getting old).

You don't need to replace that rubber boot unless it is failing.
That has nothing to do with the fuel system (as others have said). So clean it out and finish replacing your fuel lines. |
