Another 190D?? What's wrong with me?!?

Well, today started like any other Sunday morning. Got up, ate breakfast, shaved my back....then I decided to poke around on the computer.

I saw an ad for a 1984 190D automatic in the local classifieds. I figured it was worth a call, so I did and after talking to the owner it ends up it is a 1985 190D 5-speed. So I darted across town with my very patient (but for how long?) wife and a few dollars later ended up with another one.

Anyway, I guess it needs a silly name, too. So meet "Pumpkin Butter" (the ivory colored one in the pic), my newest addition. Actually, it is going to live in the midwest with my very appreciative father.

I do have a question here, however. It has power seats, which I've seen every once in a while, but it also has a factory driver's side airbag, which I've never seen in a 201 this old. I thought maybe someone installed a wheel out of a later model, but the "Airbag service sticker" is in the glovebox and indicates a ten year check in 1994. The build date is 10/84. How odd an option is this?

By the way, I wonder if I now own a full percentage number (2% maybe) of the remaining 190D 2.2 5-speeds in the US. World domination is my goal!! :whip:

Happy oil-burning!

Thanks for the offer, but I respectfully decline :) . Besides, I really did buy it for my Dad. He has been driving a '85 Toyota Corolla diesel for about 15 years now, but it has finally rusted to nothing. Engine still runs sweet, but that old Japanese steel just wasn't made for road salt. Might take the the driveline and turn it into a generator.......
