300D Minor Starting Problem

Hi All, Had a little trouble getting my car running this morning. Temp was around 15F, not usually a problem for this car. I turned the key, the glow light went on but off again real quick. I re-cycled a few times and eventually the light stayed on for the expected 10 seconds or so. The car started but with a fair amount of cranking. Valves are good, GP's are new last spring fuel is fresh and has PS dumped into it.
The way the lamp was working almost seemed like an ignition switch problem as if wiggling the key, fooling around off and on would get the GP system to come on properly. Would a flaked out relay act like this? The relay looks to be about the easiest thing to work on that I've seen with this car. Is the part expensive (100+) and would you recommend swapping this out first before replacing the ign switch? Do the relays fail over time? Car is a 1983 and has 202K.
Thanks much.

Do you mean the main fuse setup under the hood near the driver side firewall? This afternoon I turned on the key, the glow light came on and the car started with less than a full crank. It's about 25F or so but I think starting that quickly must mean the gps fired up this time. I did do a full fuse replacement on the car when I got it, about two years ago. I'll plug the car in tonight which always lets it start right away. I'm going to run a gp test too. Do they glow red when operating?
Thanks.

Ok, I'll try that. I did ream out when I changed the gps in the spring. Can the relay be cleaned? or is it just as well to replace it. The ohm check will be first as I have heard of gps being bad out of the box.
Thanks
