82' 300sd - no low beam driver side

The low beam on the drivers side doesnt work. It will however 'randomly' work.

All other lights work fine, *the high beam works fine on that side, just tired of blinding everyone*

So I just installed some European head lights, and would'nt you know it, the problem still exists.

This is the 'yellow' wire in plug cluster, I see it runs to the fuse box.

Do you think this is wire problem *run a new wire?*, switch, or something else?

Thanks!

Check the fuse. Number 6(red) is for the left side low beam, I don't know off the top of my head the number for the right.

sounds more

like a continuity issue (wow i like the sound of that word). i would suspect a loose wire at the socket or a bad prong acceptor "thingie" (darn, ruined my excellent vocabulary thing i had going).

been there, done that.

bdeely, Even after you check the fuse, Cut your lights on and be sure you have 12 volts at each end of your fuse, keep us posted...gene2

I had the same thing happen. Solder joint at the connecting pin was broken. Re-soldered and all is working normally again! It is easier to solder if you remove the entire cast hopusing from the car.

Thanks!

I'll try the fuse this weekend, check wire etc.

Whats wierd is, if i turn on the lights, turn on the fog lights, hit the brights, then return to low beam, all is well.

Wierd.

Just remembered...also had a bad solder joint at the switch in the stalk on the steering column. That one left both low beams out!
