W123 Diesel Into A W110???? Help!

Hey everyone! I just bought a very clean W110 200D. The motor is junk. I want to put a W123 240D motor in it. Other than maybe engine mounts, is there anything I need to worry about being different? Or significantly different that I can't easily swap over? I've worked with German cars for a long time, but I'm not sure about this swap. Thanks for any help !!

Yes the oil filter cannister will probly collide with steerage. AC compressor will interfere with 110 undercarriage too. And which bell housing and tranny are you using? There will probly be discrepancy in driveshaft length and tranny mounts if you use the 240D tranny. But if you combine the 240 engine with existing tranny there might be a problem with throwout bearing length of travel. And you will probably need a custom exhaust lead to the headers. Also accelerator linkage will have to be mated.

PE Haiges on this forum attempted such a swap, he said the oil filter can could be replaced with remote oil filter mounted on firewall. Seek out PE Haiges, he can tell you more than i can.

Hi,

I do not agree with the remote oil filter.
A modification of the adapter to the bloc is enough.
There is an engine mount of a 406 (Hanomag with OM621) that can be easily modified.
Together with a friend we converted his 190Dc to 240D with 5-speed tranny, disc brake rear axle and AC. The worst thing was to keep the shifting in the steering wheel.
All was without cutting anything of the body of the car and on top it works fine.
This guy has only a small garage and has to carry all his tools and stuff in his trunk and is doing 1000 km trips at 140 km/h travel speed.

240D motor in W110

The W110 is an automatic. I'd like to use the existing trans with the 240D motor. However the motor I found is out of a manual trans car. Can the 200D flywheel transfer to the 240D motor? No AC so that will relieve one problem.

Yes!

I did so with a OM 615 engine and it works.
But you have keep the rod for tans signal (on the right side).
For mine I took the whole stuff of the right engine side and put it onto the 615.
