83 300SD Blower motor

I was just looking thru the parts section and notice a AC blower motor AND heater motor for this car? I always thought there was only one blower...tells you what I know.... My car does not blow ac OR heat. Fuse is fine. What am I in for?
Thanks
Tom

There is only one blower. It's one in the same.

The lack of a blower can be caused by a multitide of items. It can be a fuse to the blower, the blower itself, the blower controller, the blower resistors, or the CCU.

It's bit of a task to run it all down. I struggled with it on the SD for a month.

First thing to do is to pull the passenger side kick panel and access the blower. There is a plug right in front of the blower. Disconnect the plug and apply 12V and a ground to the plug and see if the blower will run. If it runs, you have eliminated the blower from the issue. If it does not run, you need to remove the blower and replace it or clean up the bearings and see if you can get it to run.

Report back when you have made it this far.

Brian,

thanks for the tip! Due to my "life on the road" I wont get the opportunity to
look into it until after the weekend at the earliest, hope to have an update Monday evening.

Ohh.........I know all about that. I froze my ass off during the entire month of December because, when I did have some time, I was chasing the blower resistors and the blower controller.........because the fan would run.

Turns out that the CCU was toast.........because a non-functional auxiliary water pump took it out.

So, first step is the fan itself. Maybe you'll be more fortunate than I was.
