weird clutch behavior

Hello all,

About a month ago my clutch pedal started hesitating at release and then audibly popping back into position (last inch or so of travel). Then today it stuck down about half way. Clutch action is otherwise ok (ie no slipping). I can take my toe and bring it back and it stays. Anybody have this happen? Is this a spring tension issue? Clutch slave cylinder? I've gotta find my manual.

Lube the linkage/cable (don't know which it is-never worked on a manual MBZ)?
Whoever said there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes never had a cheap Jaguar.

Have you checked the level of the brake fluid in the AFT chamber of the brake fluid reservoir? 2) pull the floor mat down a little in the drivers foot well in back of the pedals and feel for brake fluid running down the steel line going to the clutch master. 3) check the clutch slave on the passenger side bell housing for leaking.

Sounds like you have a bad bushing at the clutch pedal pivot point. Replace it. DON'T let oil or brake fluid get to it.
