Yet another Glow Plug Question

How do I find out which GP I need. Is there a way to tell from the vin. On my car there are 2 listed (up to a certian number And from that number up is a different one) Thanks for your help.

The car is a 1980 300 SD

You need to take a look at the last six digits of your engine number. If it ends in 014181 or lower you need to order the F1100-11682. If it ends in 0141182 of higher you need to order F1100-117853.

I think those numbers reference all of the 617.950 engines so all of the 1980 300SD's are probably the latter. Easy enough to check and be sure though.

On the block below the first glow plug nearest the firewall.

I take it this is not going to be a simple go look at it with a flashlight deal huh?

Thanks for the help. I will have to go do this in like -8 degree weather

As long as the numbers are not obscured by dirt and gunk it is indeed a go look at it with a flashlight deal.

Take a rubbing of it with a piece of paper and a soft pencil or a crayon.

The MB part numbers for the OEM bosch glow plugs are:
part # 000 159 77 01 for up to and through 014181
part # 000 159 83 01 from 014181
