Question Engine and tranny prep for installation?

Hey all. I've searched, but come up short when looking for a list of wise(tm) things to do to a 'new' engine and transmission before installation. The deets:

I have a euro 300D NA with a mated manual 4 speed transmission. I bought them in Concord, California from B&D Auto parts for $700. They're reputed to have only 118K on them. (a side note, are the grey market car's speedo's in kilometers? perhaps it's only got 118K km. That'd be sweet.) The engine's got all the accessories save starter attached. It was in a roll-over accident. The pully on the PS pump is bent, but the shaft seems straight. The pulley over the balancer is bent up, too. Will the equivalent pulleys on the 240 swap over?

Seals, gaskets? What's the opinion, boys?
Also, what's the procedure for adding a 5th glow plug to the car's wiring harness? Thanks a ton, fellas.

Ash

I'm putting an '83 driveline into an '82 240D chassis. I'll need to mod the driveshaft. I'm gonna go take a cursory look at the relative exhaust placements... crossing my fingers. Oh, I guess I should examine making the AC work, as the new one's compressor might be good. I don't really know what's wrong with the old one... never bothered to try to make it work. I might decide to omit the AC altogether on the new install.

The donor car's not available anymore. I bet I could order it all if need be. Or maybe just glow 4 of the plugs. Hehehe.

Since the engine is out of the car; I don't know about you but I really hate oil leaks.

I'd replace the oil pan gaskets, the oil filter housing gasket, and pretty much every gasket I could get at.

Do it now while acess is cake and not a year down the road.

The same with the trans. Also don't forget to replace the engine and trans mount.

If the starter is in a bad spot, (like on the 617) I'd pull it and rebuild it now as well.
