1983 300SD W126 glow plugs inoperable
Just purchased a 1983 300SD.... Glow plug indicator dash lamp is inoperable during the preglow cycle (It does light up when initial dash lights come on)......I removed the 5 pin connector that goes to the glaow plaugs from the glow plug relay.....With connector removed relay sends voltage to all 5 pins when tjhe keyswitch is turned to the "run" position.......Based on this result, I assume that the relay is good........NEXT, with my meter on OHMS scale and the negative lead connected to the battery negative terminal I read each of the 5 glow plugs (at the connector) as follows:
Glow plug #1: 153.0 ohms Glow Plug #2: OPEN Glow Plug #3: 51.1 ohms Glow Plug #4: OPEN Glow Plug #5: OPEN I also got the same exact readings directly at the glow plugs (bypassing the wires) Based on these readings, are ALL of the glow plugs defective???? Thanks in advance for all replies!!!
