Scored sheepskin seat covers..

I was out part shopping this AM ; down to Ft. Lauderdale to only sunroof expert in so FLorida and found out I need a new fiber gear for my SR motor. He reffered me to a place nearby called Overseas Parts Connection like an old MB specialty store....This place is like heaven for old MB's. see website.

Didn't get the SR gear, but he had a pair of burgandy front seat sheepskin covers withthe armrest cover, to match my interior. These things are incredibly plush. and nice too. I wasn't too familiar with sheepskin, but he said he got stuck eith them and were regulary like $250 /pr. I got the set for $175. with the armrest cover. Is anyone familiar withthese if I did get a good price or not?

no pics yet but they are pimpy for an 85.

Sounds like you got a good deal. I have sheepskins on mine, they're keeping me warm these 40 degree high days like today and cool on the 80 degree day we had thursday.

I got sheepskins on my 230CE's seats. I originally got them for the 85 300D. I found them on ebay by a local seller and scored them for a great deal since I didn't have to pay for shipping. They were custom made for Mercedes seats I think by Sagaz. They were almost new and fit the seats perfectly. And yes they are super comfortable. Great for all seasons. Beats sitting on bare hard MB tex seats big time.

Heck if I know. Seems absurd for a 2 inch gear.

Before I pay $90. for a fiber gear I would rummage through every U pull It with 50 miles.....I did find a nice one after going through 2 or 3 old MB's with Webasso motors.
The big PITA is removing the motor while the cable is still in the gears, while you're hanging 1/2 way in the trunk in a bad position. Then you can take off the 3 screws that hold the cover on the motor and see if you have a good gear. One that is still round without any wear on the teeth...

Someone here posted he had a machine shop make him one out of copper in a mold...for like $60. I would do that if I knew of someone.

Does anyone know how I can dye my sheepskins. They seem to be fading. Still in great condition. I want to dye them dark blue without having the color come off on my clothes.

I've got a set of fake sheepskins for my front seats. Being a full-time mechanic, I NEED to have them. I could get away with it in my TD's navy blue seats but not these palomino. If I miss a speck of grime it WILL show on the seats. I didn't find a cover for my armrest and it's grayamino now.
