Skittles Commercial
 

Have any of you guys seen that new Skittles commercial, the one for the new smoothie ones with the guy that has the egg-beater thingies for hands? I was just watching that and if you look carefully, the two kids staring at egg beater boy are sitting on a blue W123. I thought it was cool that one of those things is still doing commercials after all these years.:cool:

There's also a W123 in a Pedigree dog food commercial, it's about animal adoption, and towards the end, the dog is hanging his head out of the rear window of a W123, presumably a 300D. Dark blue or black, can't tell, looked to be a 84 or 85 going by the antenna grommet.

The antenna grommets were different between the years? Interesting.

Yes, until 1983, W123s used chrome antenna grommets. They changed the style for the 1984 model year.

I also enjoyed seeing the commerical, I almost jumped out of my chair and yelled "thats a W123!!!"....wait... I actually did do that. I have a problem. :D

i remember saying to myself i gotta post this up both the pedigree and the skittles but kept forgetting to, but i guess someone remembered to :)
I was also at my dads house watching some karate movies on tnn and there was some karate do-jo guy who was driving a w123 diesel, not sure what model but when he got out the car to fight you could hear the diesel clatter. My dad said hey that looks like my car!

There's an episode of CSI Las Vegas where "sara Sidle" climbs on the hood of a 116....I bet they didn't know it was aluminum....:)
every time i see a 116 or 123 on TV I jump up and go "hey! look!" more often than not, it's part of some crime or terrorist activity..LOL guess we aren't ever gonna live that down...

There is a 123 on the new add on movies that tell you pirating is illegal. If I remember correctly is was a black 280E.

I saw that one on the Skittles commercial as well and did the same thing. "Hey thats a Mercedes!!"

There's a commerical for an Acura or some other Japanese car...At the beginning, there is a 116 driving ahead of it. I'll have to look for the commercial and see what the make was.

I thought the nazi propagandist guy drove a w116 gasser? :)

Speaking of commercials, i think those Volkswagen GTI commercials with that little evil "Speed" thing that gets the driver into trouble are really funny. Sure the GTIs have 200 HP but what they dont tell you is they now weigh almost 3200 lbs... a 3200 lb GTI is pretty ludicrous... it better have 200 hp to pull that.

I thought those were kind of annoying. I really like the new ones, where it makes fun of "Pimp My Ride" with the German guy. Now those are funny. I really like the one where it says something to the affect that the guy was owned by German engineering. Maybe not Mercedes but still German.

My dad says that GTI's give porshe's and high end MB's a run for their money on the autobahn. Their the "affordable rocket" over there.

I sat in a 2006 one at the auto show here a couple weeks ago, its speedo goes to TWO HUNDRED miles per hour, and they have a 6 speed manual. :eek:
