Fouled injectors - Diesel Purge?

Hi,

I get paid pretty well to read this forum - finally time to post again.

Car: 1986 300SDL 172K - owned since 9/05
Oil: Castrol 10W40 changed every 3K
Fuel: B80-B100 biodiesel UNWASHED (I'll expound if anyone cares). Been in use for ~2000 miles
Fuel filters: changed about 500 miles ago - still picking up black flecks in primary.

Problem: sudden (within one day) smoking problem only when hot and only apparent at idle. Smoke is almost certainly fuel (rather distinctive smell)

Search results: probably fouled injectors due to marginal fuel quality - unburned glycerol or soap has altered spray patter...please correct if wrong.

Question: will Diesel Purge help or do the injectors need to be removed and cleaned? If latter, I didn't see a "cleaning injectors DIY link"- is there one? If former, what is currently best product?

Thanks in advance - this forum has been a great resource - OK my boss might not agree...

prc

Your instructions are right here:

http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/Service/W123/Index/617T/07MechElec.htm

Go to section 07.1-137. Disassembly, cleaning, assembly and adjustment of injection nozzles.

Thanks much. No, haven't touched the ALDA - unfortunately haven't had time to mess with anything that isn't broken

I have been told Diesel Purge can actually clog injectors. I gues it drags the dirt it cleans right to the nozzel. The Bosch shop that does my injector work doesn't think to highly of it. I tired it on the SD and didn't notice a difference.

I agree, running B20 or better will probably get you better results than that snake oil.
