Where can I get my tach rebuilt?

I have an 81 300SD that has a faulty tach. Yes, it has a new tach amp and the crank sensor is good. The tach works every now and then and only at idle. When it works it bounces all over the place. But give it a bit of throttle and the tach dies. So, to the question. Does anyone here have someone they can recomend to rebuild the tach? I know of a few places but have never delt with them or know thier reputation. Thanks for the help!

Mine did exactly the same thing. I took the cap off the tach amp and put a small piece of dense foam inside, then put it back together and it worked fine. The pins doen't make good contact under normal conditions. I pulled the amp back out and crimped the pins just a little so there was resistance when putting it back together, all ok now.

Phil, I tried that with two different amps, no luck. Bought a brand new amp, same thing. The tach is the last thing to replace, hope thats it!
