Help! loosing oil

I am a new MB owner and could not buy a nice car. I got a 85 300 SD With the help of a new friend got it to run nice. I took it out for a short drive and made a fast stop ( Did not shut it off ) Walking back to the car I saw oil coming out fast. I got it back home ok looked under it and I could see on the passenger side on top of the oil pan a big tube that looks like it goes up to the turbo. Right where it comes out of the oil pan seems to be where the oil is coming from. I got a mess all under the car.

Can anyone tell me how to go about trying to fix this?

Thank you
Bruce

Is that the 5 cyl engine. I'm not to familiar with all the changes on 126 chassis. If so it sounds like the turbo drain back seal is bad where it goes into the oil pan. A new seal and tube can be purchased here in this site.

And first thing you gotta know is how much oil its pushing...... one quart each 200 miles maybe?? And deffinitely carry a gallon of oil in the trunk. Then hope and pray the joker who sold you the car never ran it out of oil.

And what d'you mean calling yourself a new 1985 300SD owner that "could not afford to buy a nice car" ??

The rubber seal is shot so replace it and no more leaks.

Thank you all for your help!

Thank you all for your help!
I will be getting the parts and fix the car soon!
AS for this being a nice car well yes I love driving it and some day wish to be lucky to find one that looks nice too!

This one has been trashed! Some kid had it cut big holes in doors for speakers no reg. Maintenance. AS that was not the worst It was broken into had all the sound system ripped out of it and was keyed on both sides then left to sit with a leaky sun roof!
Ya I got it anyway at about $800.00 so far the saying is still right when you get a cheep MB you will pay a lot more to fix it up!
But that’s the only way I could get started on one!

Fix it up as you go and you will have a nice car one day. Just stay on top of all the maintenance.

Isn't there a one-way valve at the bottom of that oil return tube? Perhaps it is stuck shut or open. I'd try to replace that in the process.

After Bruce bought this car I did some maintence on it. It may not look the prettiest, but it does drive very nicely and the 617 engine runs well. The car has suffered from some poor ownership when it comes to taking care of it, but I think that it is good for at least another 100,000 miles.
