Thanks for the info and still looking!!!

Thanks for all the help and clearing up that my 1980 TD is non-turbo that helps. Have checked the glow plugs all working, would a vacuum leak cause the engine not to start? Thought I read some place this would cause it not shut off? Best I can tell the tan part on top of the IP is for trans. shifting, if I pull a vac. on the top line it holds vac. till the linkage is moved and looks correct to me? The fuel cut off on the back of the IP will not hold a vac. with the hand pump. Any easy way to check if the pump is pumping? Will not give up was running to well !!!!!

I would rule out an air leak in the fuel system before I did too much to the IP....

Unhappy help

Ok I have got the crank at 24 BTDC and followed all instructions. How long should the 1 drop per second last? 5 seconds 10 seconds ......... mine stops very quick and don't want to move till I am sure it's the correct thing required?

82-85 are turbos. 81 and older non turbo.
