I thought it was the "Oh, Snap!" button.

You could pretty soon since they are offering the E320 CDI in "bluetec" thats legal to sell new in the carb states (calif,NY,etc) because it meets the strict emission standards.

I also dig the commercial heavily, watching streetcars with wings get beat....

I am too curious about the button, "C/S" ??? (propane injection ? Overboost ? on a stock MB lol......

I also love the "un-pimp my ride" vw commercials- its just stuff you dont see every day. And I'm not a big fan of new VW's either. I need to find the "representen' de deutchland" sig line =) (can you make the little VW hand signal ? =)

The problem is that this commercial isnt going to appeal to the average E-class buyer, and its probably not gonna appeal to the average GTI/rice buyer either.

But if I had $50k to burn on a single car......I'd rock it 7 days a week and twice on sunday.

"C/S" button? It's the "Comfort" & "Sport" modes for the automatic transmission. Adjusts shift speed & timing, among other things. Also adjusts "hardness" of shift in the new AutoStick semi-auto trannys when in manual mode.

boost

I have a CDI (and actually identify more with rice rocket crowd)... my favorite part is when he hits the transmission button (c/s) to get his "boost."
C starts the car in second gear, S is regular start.

Wow....fancy..... All I do is hold the pedal down farther, and longer. No computers, nothing to break.

I was at the dealership getting rear spring spacers last week, and a rich guy with a E55 AMG (BRAND new) was in one of the MB service slots, and he and the service guy (that poor man) were looking at something under the hood....I wonder what was wrong. yeesh.

I love the VW commercial and its "engineered by germans"

Favorite thing I read on thesamba

SOme lady comes up to this guy driving her NB which is the same color as this guys old 60's beetle. She pops out while he is washing his car and comments on how they both have the same car.

His reply was...actually they are different, my car is a VW, yours is a car called a VW.

I just watched the other GTI ads. VW needs to FIRE its ad agency! VW used to be a leader in innovative ads (think the "lemon" bug ad) now they seem to be at the bottom of the barrel. What the heck is that "fast" thing anyway? I don't even know what to say about all of those "un-pimp" commercials.

As for the CDI ad there is no way that was ever created to air on TV. It is way too long, not very professionally done, and obviously would not appeal to Mercedes target audience.

California

I hear California and NY are going to open up soon to the CDI becasue of better emissions. When that happens the word is that the new S500 and S600 will have diesels.

Anybody got $90k for a new S class diesel???

The truly ironic thing is that Wolfgang the German is actually Swede Peter Stormare.

The CDI ad was cute ... not really going to sell a car to me, but I didn't think it was all that bad.

The VW ads are among the worst I have ever seen. Worst ads. Ever. Period. The laughable part is that the GTI looks an awful lot like a tacky ricer. Kind of like a "biz-casual" ricer for young suit-and-ties who want to look "hip" but have no idea how ... sorry, just my opinion.

I AGREE!

But I really liked that CDI ad. It was just plain awesome. MB Really needs to air that just to make people aware that the old "big stinky diesel" cliche isn't true anymore......

Oh no! There is another one. VW GTI MK V ad: "Crate"

It's not quite as bad, I *almost* like it. "VeeDub, representing Deutschland."

Randy was right, it was the "Un-pimp the auto" button.

VW GTI MK V ad: "Wrecking ball"
"VeeDub, holding it down on the engineering ?????, ya." I can't understand what he said. It sounded like "tibyaa".
