Fuel injectors dead ones work fine real test amazing results?

I did a little experiment today the car a 1985 EURO 300D that will be sold to the state of California tomorrow at 1pm. I put fuel injectors in this car six months ago. So the cheap sob I am I pulled them out and put in 5 injectors all 5 popped at less than 70 bar and the spray pattern was just a stream of what I call pee one of them popped at 1 bar and just peed. The car started right up and while I only drove it around the block, it ran just great I will note it is running on 50 percent WVO. The car is my sons and has to be at the state office at 1pm for him to be paid for it. I have pulled the pintal out of 4 injectors and if the rain lets up tomorrow morning ( it is very strange held up by real rain is a rare occurrence here trees are falling over) I will install these and see if it will run. If it will I am sure it would only be practical for WVO because the MPG would have to be crap. Maybe I will have a new product for eBay high performance injectors at $500 a set LOL

my experience

is that a 616 or 617 will run pretty well with injectors that dont test very well.

i have installed a lot of new or rebuilt injectors through the years and rarely can i remember noticing ANY difference in performance or mileage.

I'd throw that one out ASAP! A leaking injector can melt a precombustion chamber and piston real quick.

I may be missing something here but why is the car being sold to the state? If its only peeing out that one injector who cares. Let those dirty bureaucrats worry about it.

Sure they will run forever with crap injectors. They just won't run as well as they could or should.

It all depends on what you want out of the car.

btw rebuilding the injectors doesn't cost $500, figure about half that if all 5 are bad.

update

The car was rear ended bending the frame plus a few other problems. The state has a program where they will pay you $1200 for any old car that fails the smog check and some age requirements. I put new injectors in the car six months ago so I was not going to include those so I thought I would experiment with the injectors and keep the good set. I have a ton of crap injectors so I thought I would try a real bad set to see what difference it made there was none noted in the 20 minutes I drove the car to drop it off. I did not try injectors with no pintails today fearing they would dump so much fuel in the crank case I would have a run away diesel and I was home alone with no to be ready to stop the engine and if I blew the engine my son would kill me because he would have lost the sale to the state and only got $200 from the junk yard. The best thing about the smog buy back program is the car has to have one bumper one head light 1 tail light 1 drivers seat and be able to start with a key drive forward 50 feet and back up 50 feet so we have a few EURO parts for eBay or the next w123.

It is a shame a Euro 85 300d got wrecked. That is the saddest thing I have heard in a while.

Wow thats a great program! Is their a limit or could you make a nice side business out of selling junk cars to the state?

theres a limit

As I understand it, the limit is 1 car per year and you must have been the owner of the car for at least 12 months. There is another smog buy back program where you get $650 per car that the only limit is that you were the owner for the past 12 months that is good anywhere in CA where the $1250 program is only good if you live in some counties in the state. You could make a mint if there were no limits that would be great sell most of the parts on EBay and get $1250 for the scrap too good to be true.

Dave, what kind of Euro parts will you have? I could use a few interior dash wood pieces like the one around the switches and shifter if your car did not have power windows. I could also use the plastic cups that go behind the heater and fan knobs. Please PM me on what you will have available. Thanks!
