-Change tranny fluid and filter using LE-Lubrication Engineers fluid new mann filter
-Get a set of chromed lug bolts to match my newly painted rims.
-Replace Squeally rear brake pads that where just installed with new ones. I CAN'T STAND THAT SQUEALING ANY MORE!!!
-Install chrome mirror covers on my rear view mirrors and a sun roof deflector.
-Replace my hirschmann antenna with a rebuilt Hirschmann.
-Get a small rust area professionally fixed and the crease some jerk put in my driver's door pulled and painted.
-Get new front corner lights to go with my new Bosch Euro headlights.
-Swap out my differential with the noisy Pinion bearing.
-Put in a PALCO dash cap to cover the newly growing cracks in my dash.
-Replace my driver's seat springs and install a new pad and new upsholstery cover on bottom and seat back.

-Sit back in my porch swing when I am done and smoke an AVO Maduro cigar and have a Yuenling Lager beer or a glass of Sun Drop and Crown Royal and think about how good life really is in spring.

Between now and the summer, I hope to...

1. Get the motor oil and filter changed.
2. Change the transmission filter and fluid.
3. Get front end work done and get it aligned.
4. Replace two a/c vents.
5. Get that darn ACC pushbutton panel working right.
6. Replace blower motor
7. Sort out some vacuum problems.
8. Find out why the passenger's side driver's door lock rod won't go all the way up or down (there's a brand new actuator in there too, so I've determined it's an issue with the rod itself.)

Note that you can get that shutoff valve in/out without removing the oil filter housing. It takes some finagling, but you can do it. After unbolting it, if you move it towards the engine, and wiggle, it will come out of its hole. Then your still stuck between the IP and the oil filter housing and you have to turn it around...

I know im just preaching to the choir here, I really enjoy your pictorials and you know all to much about these cars, I was just hoping to help you by sharing my recent encounter.

Lets see to be completed by May 1st on the SDL.
1. Take out of the garage and put my driving wheels back on(balanced as well). Along with a badly needed detail to remove all the dust from storage.
2. Change the oil (Delvac 1 with OE filter of course)
3. Rear brake rotors OE or Zimmerman(ATE warped!)
4. Rebuilt rear brake calipers along with OE pads to cure squek (fingers crossed)
5. Spring brake fluid flush, DOT4
6. Timing chain, guides, and tensioner; all OE
7. Liftersx12 ouch$$$
8. Rebuilt cruise control amp
9. Coolant flush along with some new heater hoses (all OE)
10. Replace wipers "borrowed" for the SD
11. New kick down switch

The SD:
1.Change oil, whatever 15w40 is cheapest, whatever filter is cheapest.
2. Put junk tires on
3. Stick in back yard under tarp.
4. Remove battery
5. Trade next fall for 1991 420SEL.

Light spring actually. Since the SDL is in storage I'll probably have most of that list done by the end of March.

My Spring List:

Stop driving my car so hard.
Realize 60mph in 2nd gear is probably contributing to my blowby problem.
Readjust IP delivery valves
Set IP timing
Turn over 300K miles (I am about 1500miles away!!)
3" exhaust installation.

(BTW none of my projects cost money.... ...and they are all easier than my Winter project listed below )

My list isn't too long...

-Body work with some welding (rear door and fender need it from accident 2 yrs ago)

-Cruise amp (actually doing this very soon)
-Launch spring attack on any potential rust on underside of car from winter
-Headlights are up for review, my driver side sealed beam has water in it , so I just want to dump them for euros.....
-A/C system needs to be resurrected for the upcoming summer/traveling. No way I am driving thousands of miles without it again, last time was horrid. Its worth the 1.5k its going to potentially cost.
-All belts...they're old, their time has come. I bet they have at least 50-60k on them!
-Tranny cooling hoses to radiator- mine are ok, but I want the spring wrapped ones.

-Any other bits and things that occur on their respective schedules....

I want to try to keep it simple.....yeah right.

-New engine mounts
-New subframe bushings
-Possibly tranny and differential mounts
-LCA bushings if I can find a press then an alignment
-Fix seat spring
-Repair ripped vinyl off pillars

That should keep me busy for a while.

Danny

I hope you have better luck with repairing your pillar vinyl than I did. Mine is much better than it was, but nothing to crow about, that's for sure. Rather than pulling, regluing, slicing, filling, sanding and painting, I wish I had spent that time finding a piece of vinyl and just replacing the whole vinyl sheet. If you find a good source for the vinyl, please let me know.

I am going to to a full front end rebuild on my W123 when warmer weather is upon us.

Then set to task of fixing my A/C now that I have the tools, the freon R-12 and the Liscense to do it.
