Valve Adjustment Causes Idle shake to return. New Engine Shock and it is gone!

I have had the 300sd for over a year and 30k miles now. Never knew what a difference new engine shocks would make.

A few months ago I replaced the engine mounts and my hot idle shake disappeared completely.

Just adjusted the valves this past weekend for the first time myself!

Hot idle shake came back. Crawled under the car this morning (It was 75 degrees here in North Carolina toay!!! and will be 80 deg. tomorrow!)
I replaced the engine shock on the passenger side and the shock mount which was shot to hell. the shock had punched all the way through the mount. New bushings, washers, locknuts.

Cranked it up and it idles more smoothly than it ever has! Got to get a second engine shock mount tomorrow and will do the other side.

These dampeners or shocks are the trick for rough idle.

did you try the rack dampner bolt .. if its worn and most likely the original the spring in it will go resaulting in a crappy idle.. the updated ones are alot more durable

I just put in a new rack damper bolt about five minutes ago. It makes a big difference in the big shakes but there are still some smaller vibrations. I've replaced the mounts so next comes the shocks.

I replaced the rack dampener bolt with a updated one right after I got the car

Yes, I did replace the rack dampener bolt right after I got the car. Maybe it is time to adjust it again.
